Dowd & Harper
Dowd & Harper is an online music library offering PRS-licensed tracks for media projects. The library organises tracks by albums and lets users listen via a custom audio player or download directly from the site. They needed a platform that made browsing and discovering music intuitive for filmmakers, content creators, and producers.
Design — Minimalist approach with an animated turntable illustration on the homepage that sets the tone immediately. Originally built with mood-based colour-coded categories, the design evolved to focus on albums while keeping the clean, intuitive navigation that makes finding the right track straightforward.
Development — Originally built with Perch CMS in 2019, then upgraded to Kirby CMS in 2025. The upgrade replaced the mood categories with an album-based system and added search functionality for quickly finding specific tracks. Custom audio player built with AmplitudeJS handles playback and playlists smoothly across the reorganised library.
Results — A professional music library platform that makes licensing tracks straightforward for media professionals. The site received an Honourable Mention from Awwwards, recognizing both the clean design and functional audio experience.
